Chicagoans are already paying some of the highest taxes in the country on beer, wine, and spirits. Now City Hall is considering adding a brand-new 3% tax on all retail alcohol sales – a 29% sales tax increase on beer, wine and spirits. That means every time you buy a six-pack of beer, bottle of wine, or your favorite distilled spirit at your neighborhood store-you pay more.

As working families struggle to afford their groceries and pay their bills, Chicagoans need a break, not even higher prices at the checkout counter.
