Right now, the North Carolina legislature is considering SB 527, a bill that has several consumer-friendly measures including:

  • Allowing  holiday sales on New Year’s Day, July 4th and Labor Day from ABC stores
  • Reinstating cocktails to-go including by restaurant delivery permittee 
  • Lowering the tax rate for some spirits ready-to-drink cocktails (RTDs)

 

This bill supports local hospitality businesses by allowing them to better serve consumers like you and the many tourists who visit the state. 

TAKE ACTION by asking your legislators to support SB 527, which provides more opportunities for distillers and more choices for consumers!

Learn more about each measure:

SB 527 authorizes ABC stores the opportunity to sell on New Year’s Day, July 4th and Labor Day.

SB 527 includes cocktails to-go by restaurant delivery permittee. Cocktails to-go must be sold with food and in container that is no more than 24 ounces with a secure lid that prevents consumption without removal of the lid.

SB 527 eliminates the 30% mixed-beverage tax for on-premise RTDs.
