Pennsylvania Ready-to-Drink (RTD) Cocktails

Take action NOW by respectfully asking your legislator to support spirits RTDs expansion!

It’s time to allow spirits RTDs in grocery and convenience stores!

Spirits-based RTD cocktails are booming, but in Pennsylvania, you’re prohibited from purchasing these products in grocery and convenience stores despite being able to buy other alcohol there.

This inconveniences consumers, like you, by forcing you to make a special trip for these products. That’s completely unfair!

Why are you prohibited from purchasing spirits RTDs in stores where beer- and wine-based RTDs are sold even though spirits RTDs have similar or lower alcohol content? It just doesn’t make sense.

Beer- and wine-based RTDs are permitted to be sold at 18 times as many retail outlets in the state as spirits-based RTDs. In Pennsylvania there are 0.6 spirits outlets per 10,000 people – well below the national average of 3.4 outlets per 10,000 people.

Allowing spirits-based RTDs to be sold next to beer and wine in grocery and convenience stores would:

  • Provide Pennsylvania consumers greater choice and convenience
  • Treat all RTD products with similar alcohol content more fairly
  • Support Pennsylvania distilleries

TAKE ACTION NOW to ask your legislators to support SB 688, which would allow spirits-based RTDs to be sold in grocery and convenience stores just like beer and wine!
